Dr. Mengel grew up in Chester County, Pennsylvania, just outside of Philadelphia. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Villanova University in 1996. After several years working with horses and in the pharmaceutical industry, she pursued her passion for veterinary medicine and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007.
Dr. Mengel's career has spanned private practice, emergency medicine, and academic veterinary training. In 2012, she returned to her alma mater to build and lead a Primary Care service, helping veterinary students gain hands-on experience in general practice. She served as the course organizer for the Primary Care clinical rotation until 2020, when she accepted a clinician position at Washington State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine. After a year in Washington, she returned to Chester County and practiced emergency medicine at BluePearl Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center.
In January 2024, Dr. Mengel returned to her roots in general practice and joined the team at Colchester Veterinary Hospital.
She has a special love for Weimaraner’s and enjoys working with them in the field, including participating in AKC field trials and other hunting events.
