Dr. James Geer ù
Dr. Geer is a Connecticut native who founded the Colchester Veterinary Hospital 29 years ago. He attended undergraduate school at the University of Connecticut and graduated from The University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, and the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society. He lives with his wife, Jeanne, in Hebron along with a Boxer, a Boston Terrier, seven cats, and a horse. Dr. Geer's interests include woodworking, sailing and organic farming.

Dr. Robert McLaughlin ù
Dr. Robert McLaughlin received his Bachelor's degree in Animal Science from the University of Connecticut in 1984. His DVM degree was earned at Oklahoma State University in 1989, the same year he joined the staff at Colchester Veterinary Hospital. Dr. McLaughlinÆs wife Elizabeth is a Special Education teacher. They have two daughters, Kimberly and Julie, who are 7 years old and 4 years old, respectively. Corey, a 3 year-old male Irish Setter and Casey, a 6 year old Domestic Short Hair cat round out Dr. McLaughlinÆs household. Dr. McLaughlin enjoys outdoor sports and is an avid runner. He also takes great pleasure in hiking and skiing. One of Dr. McLaughlinÆs ambitions is to continue to practice progressive medicine and surgery into the new millenium.
Dr. Michael Berard ù
Dr. Michael Berard is a 1991 graduate of the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine. He earned his Bachelors degree in Animal Science at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Berard is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association, and the Florida Veterinary Medical Association. He resides in Colchester with his wife Brenda and children Stephanie, Zachary and Olivia. Dr. Berard's special interests are chemotherapy and heartworm disease. His hobbies are baseball, carpentry, farming, and John Deere Tractors.
Dr. Alice Mayer ù
Alice H. Mayer, DVM grew up on Long Island and received her undergraduate degree from Stony Brook University. Following graduation, she worked in several laboratory settings involved with cell culture and immunology. She then attended Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. After receiving her DVM, Dr. Mayer returned to New York and worked full time in small animal practice. For the past 4 years, she has enjoyed working part-time at Colchester Veterinary Hospital. She lives in Connecticut with her husband, who is a retired veterinarian.
Dr. Lewis Kimball ù
Dr. Lewis Kimball graduated from Colorado State University of Veterinary Medicine in 1978. He owned and operated his own small animal practice for 16 years before joining the Colchester Veterinary Hospital in 1996. Dr. KimballÆs main interests and hobbies include golf, hunting and fishing. He currently resides in Stonington, CT with his wife, 2 children, 2 dogs and 2 cats. Dr. Kimball looks forward to traveling to other countries, visiting their veterinarians and seeing how things are done in their parts of the world.
Dr. Heidi Seaton ù
Dr. Heidi Seaton is a University of Connecticut alumna (Go Huskies!), graduating with a B.S. degree in Pathobiology in 1988. She is a graduate of Oklahoma State University (Go Pokes!), earning her D.V.M. degree in 1992. Hobbies include reading, camping, rock climbing, and long-distance cycling. Her cycling includes a yearly 150-mile bicycle tour to raise awareness and money towards finding a cure for Mutliple Sclerosis. Occasionally, she has been a presenter for career days at local schools. She enjoys small animal medicine and being part of the family at Colchester Veterinary Hospital.

Dr. Patti Hogan ù
We are fortunate to have a board-certified veterinary radiologist available to read X-rays and to perform ultrasounds. Dr. Hogan visits the hospital routinely on Tuesdays and Thursdays and performs these vital functions. If your pet is having an ultrasound scheduled then Dr. Hogan will be doing it.
Dr. Steve Heyman ù
Dr. Heyman is a board-certified veterinary surgeon. He attended the University of Pennsyalvania and received his B.A. degree in 1983, and his V.M.D. degree in 1987. After graduation he did his internship and residency at the university of Pennsylvania as well. He became Board Certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1993. Dr. Heyman lives in Orange Connecticut with his wife Claudia and his three children, Andrew, Jennifer, and Matthew. Dr. Heyman is the owner of surgical Care Specialists and visits our hospital on a weekly basis. He performs complex soft tissue and orthopedic surgery for our patients.
