What to bring with you:

When coming to the hospital please bring with you any medical records or records of vaccines that you may have for your pet. If you are bringing a new puppy or kitten it is very important to bring a previous (if any) vaccine record. Also please try to bring a stool sample with you (less than twenty-four hours old and wrapped in paper or plastic.

Admissions Desk

If your pet needs to be hospitalized:

If your pet is seriously ill, he or she may need to be hospitalized to do additional diagnostic procedures and tests. If your pet does to need stay, you may visit daily if you wish. Please call and make arrangements with the attending doctor for a time. You may call during regular business hours for a progress report on your pet. You will be updated by the phone receptionist when you call. The attending doctor should also update you by phone at least once per day. Please call and ask when your doctor is available.

Admission requirements for surgery or other diagnostic procedures:

All surgery patients are admitted between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM the day of surgery. Please allow 15 minutes to go through the check-in procedure.

All surgery patients should have food and water taken away from them at 6 PM the night before surgery ? this is very important, be sure to tell the admitting technician if your pet has eaten or had water.

Please bring all records with you. Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella vaccines are required for admission, no exceptions. If you do not have proof that your pet is up-to-date on vaccines, then we will give your pet the vaccines and you will be charged for them. This is for your own pet?s protection; we don?t want him or her going home sick.

You will be asked if you would like pre-surgical bloodwork done before surgery. All pets that are over 8 years old must have the pre-surgical bloodwork done upon admission if they have not previously had bloodwork done. If your pet is under 8 years of age, then pre-anesthesia/surgery bloodwork is optional. The reason for this pre-surgical "mini-screen" is make sure that there are no major organ dysfunctions before going to surgery. The optional pre-surgical "mini-screen" cost is $28 and you will be asked to accept or decline this.

Most surgery is done in the morning. You are encouraged to call for a progress report after 2 PM. Some surgeries go home the same day, some the following day. Please ask for a discharge time when you call for a progress report.

Ultrasounds:

If you are leaving your pet for an ultrasound it is not necessary to withhold food and water before admission. Ultrasound patents must be dropped off before NOON of the day they are having an ultrasound. All ultrasound reports are available at 6 PM of that day. Please call after 6 PM for the ultrasound report and a discharge time.
